We are currently looking for a part time Lab Aide I to work in the lab of Dr. Harmit Malik in the Basic Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The Malik lab focuses on conducting evolutionary studies of genetic conflict to gain insight into their mechanisms and consequences.
This role will help our research program focusing on the evolution of chromatin interactions in flies. The work will involve routine maintainence of fly stocks, molecular biology (including molecular cloning, DNA and RNA extractions, sequencing), genetic experiments, and various logistical and organizational tasks associated with relocating a research program (e.g., media preparation, ordering, maintenance of lab stocks). The position is ideally suited for someone who wants to gain more hands-on research experience. The Aide will coordinate with a full-time supervisor to work full time in the summer and part time during the school year with flexibility of days to work.
