Registered Nurse (RN) School Nursing

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing anddocumenting skilled nursing care in accordance with the care plan developed foreach individual patient and within the physician’s orders. The Registered Nurseis also responsible for providing services, as directed by contract and/or program,while under the supervision of a contract/program clinical designee. The RNprovides service in accordance with Maxim’s philosophy, standards and policies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assesses and evaluates patient nursing needs regularly
  • Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluatepatient/client care and/or services provided to client(s) receiving contracted services,as required
  • Initiates the plan of care when directed and requests fromprescriber any necessary revisions as patient status and needs change
  • Incorporates therapeutic, preventive, and rehabilitative nursingactions based on patient diagnosis and established goals
  • Intervenes as applicable in response to changes inpatient/client condition and reports such changes to appropriate physician orsupervisor
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, as wellas, monitors and documents effectiveness of intervention
  • Assures patient/client safety at all times
  • Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the care/services environmentand equipment used, including universal precautions
  • Reviews plan of care and program protocols and identifiesareas for healthcare teaching/education, care coordination, goal setting anddischarge planning needs, as applicable
  • Documents all physician collaboration/coordination of carein the medical record and communicates this information as needed
  • Adheres to the following professional practice standards:
    • Nurse Practice Act
    • Standards of Nursing Practice
    • Standards of Patient Care
    • Standards of Accrediting Body
    • State and Local Laws
    • Patient Bill of Rights
    • Policies and procedures of contracted customers
  • Adheres to Maxim policy, procedure and applicable protocols
  • Attends case conferences, team meetings and educationin-services, as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
