American Nurse Alix Dorsainvil and her child were abducted on Thursday morning while serving with the Christian humanitarian aid organization El Roi Haiti near Port-au-Prince.

A heart-wrenching incident has shaken the international community, as news surfaced of the kidnapping of an American nurse, Alix Dorsainvil, and her child in Haiti. According to elroihati.com, Alix, is the wife of Sandro Dorsainvil Program Director of El Roi Haiti who had dedicated her life to providing compassionate care to the Haitian people through her work with the Christian humanitarian aid organization El Roi Haiti, was abducted alongside her unnamed child while serving in their community ministry near the capital city, Port-au-Prince.

Originally from New Hampshire, USA, Alix Dorsainvil moved to Haiti after her husband, Sandro Dorsainvil, invited her to provide nursing care for the children in a Haitian school.

According to a statement released on El Roi Haiti’s website, Alix and her child were abducted on Thursday morning while serving on the organization’s campus near Port-au-Prince.

International Response and Support

As news of the abduction emerged, global attention turned to this distressing situation. The United States authorities, in collaboration with Haitian officials and U.S. government interagency partners, have sprung into action to address the crisis. The State Department has stated that the safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas are their utmost priority, and they are actively engaged in efforts to ensure the safe return of Alix Dorsainvil and her child.

On the same day as the kidnapping, the State Department ordered a travel advisory for Haiti which advised nonemergency U.S. government employees and families to leave the country “due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”
