According to a statement released on El Roi Haiti’s website, Alix and her child were abducted on Thursday morning while serving on the organization’s campus near Port-au-Prince.
International Response and Support
As news of the abduction emerged, global attention turned to this distressing situation. The United States authorities, in collaboration with Haitian officials and U.S. government interagency partners, have sprung into action to address the crisis. The State Department has stated that the safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas are their utmost priority, and they are actively engaged in efforts to ensure the safe return of Alix Dorsainvil and her child.
On the same day as the kidnapping, the State Department ordered a travel advisory for Haiti which advised nonemergency U.S. government employees and families to leave the country “due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”
