Position Summary
The Director of Nursing for the Operating Room provides clinical leadership and administrative oversight for Surgical Services at Robert Packer Hospital. The position is an integral member of the nursing leadership team and works collaboratively with the Associate Vice President Surgical Service and the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure clinical excellence and compassionate care. In addition, the Director of Surgical Clinical Operations assumes surgical leadership in absence of the Associate Vice President of Surgical Services.
Education, License, & Cert
A Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing is required with a Master’s degree in Nursing or relevant area such as health care administration, or business administration (MHA, MBA) required. Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania
Experience
A minimum of 8 years progressive nursing leadership experience including a minimum of 4 years in clinical practice as a Registered Nurse and 4 years in a progressive leadership/management capacity in surgical services and at least two of those years at the department head level or above strongly preferred
Essential Functions
- Provides oversight for clinical best practices based on research and regulatory requirements.
- Provides direct operational and administrative oversight for assigned patient service areas and direct reports Provides clinical leadership for surgical patient flow and throughput processes
- Participates in overall strategic planning for Robert Packer Hospital.
Works collaboratively with Managers to assure integration of a professional practice model environment Supports the overall hospital in the alignment and achievement of organizational/department goals Addresses own need for leadership and professional development on an ongoing basis
